Boards can generally be cut and fixed using standard carpentry tools. Compliant installation relies on following the tested system details—fasteners, edge distances, joints and support framing must match the approved design for the FRL to remain valid.

Most systems require full encapsulation to achieve the tested fire rating. Partial protection or spot-treatment is not considered compliant unless specifically tested and certified.
