Plywood panels typically arrive with tight machining tolerances, but onsite conditions determine final alignment. Installers should allow for minor expansion and variation in substrate flatness. A concealed fixing system or expressed joint is recommended when a high-accuracy finish is required.

High-quality birch, hoop pine and maple veneers offer excellent dimensional stability. Panels remain flat in controlled interior environments provided they are acclimatised before installation. This prevents cupping and eliminates movement across large joined surfaces.

Performance depends on perforation pattern, open area percentage and backing material. Typical NRC values range from 0.55 to 0.90 when paired with acoustic blanket or black tissue. Panels can be tuned to suit classrooms, theatres, lecture halls and workplace ceilings.

FR substrates and coatings are available to achieve Group 2 or Group 3 ratings under AS 5637.1. Final compliance depends on the complete system: timber species, veneer thickness, coating system and installation method. Certification can be issued per project.

Plywood offers higher impact resistance than plasterboard or MDF. It holds screws, resists dents and performs well in schools, transport hubs and foyers where durability is critical. Surface coatings add additional abrasion protection.

Panels can be installed using concealed split-battens, accessible clip-rail systems, direct screw fixing or suspended grid systems. Selection depends on service access, panel size and acoustic requirements. Large-format panels usually require concealed support framing.
